Summer Reading FAQs
What do I need to do?
Choose at least one book from the lists on the left.
**If you are entering 9th grade, please choose at least one book from the 9th grade list.
Enjoy your reading!
When you finish that book, choose more books from the lists, or explore the links on the "Looking for more?" page for more great suggestions.
Return to school ready to talk and write about what you read. Your English teacher will give you more information on the assignment in the fall.
Why such a big list?
Summer is a time for relaxing with the books you love, but it is not always easy to know what is out there. The summer reading list represents a wide range of interests and reading levels - favorite student choices, award winners, contemporary literature, and some classics that you don't want to miss. Use it as a springboard for your summer reading. Start with one book from the list, and go from there. How many books can you read this summer?
Where can I get the books?
Summer reading books will be on display in the LMC and available for checkout starting in mid-May. Borrow a book and return it in the fall.
Check out digital e-books and audiobooks anytime by accessing our Overdrive library at overdrive.fairfieldschools.org. Your library card number is your student ID number. E-mail [email protected] if you have questions about OverDrive.
Donate or borrow books from the Book Exchange cart outside of the LMC.
How can I tell others about the books I read?
We would love to hear about what you are reading! Email the following information to [email protected]:
First name:
Homeroom:
Book Title:
A brief thought about your book: (ex: smiley face, "read this!", "not my favorite", etc.)
We will post your thoughts in the fall. Each entry will also be entered into our raffle. Winners will be announced at the beginning of the school year.
